Now what about that shooting brake...

I do not understand... why would anyone want a sedan Toyoburu? It just looks out of proportion and ruins the point of the car. I could see a hatch version long before a sedan.

Is mazda going to release a miata sedan next? That would make about as much sense as a toyobaru sedan

Wait of they do that, shouldn't it replace the current similar sized sedan? Is that what will happen? I hope so.
I'll also be the one to say it : they better bump power if they make it a sedan.

Can you think of another attractive sedan for mid-$20k? Besides the 6 from Mazda I can't.

Damn, that sedan looks good. I need to see the back of the shooting brake to give an opinion on that though.

Ford Fusion. Not the best driver's car but definitely handsome and has a healthy amount of features for mid 20k.

"Sadly, only available as a Lexus with an 'h' designation."

I think four regular doors on a car of this size with these proportions looks terrible. They should do small suicide doors ala RX-8

Waaaaait wait waitwait. This is a 4-door, 4-seat RWD sedan? Nice n revvy. Hmm, remind anyone of a concept called....oh i dunno....E30?

Mazda 3, Chevy Cruze, Kia Optima

im all about the brake. I support the sedan only because it may lead to the brake being designed.

Hmm but those are tiny (except the Optima). I was imagining the FR-S sedan would be a mid-size instead of a compact. Or would it slot in next to the BMW 4er Gran Coupe?

Ick. The belt line is too high for my tastes (that being said I really really liked the looks of the last gen).

I think the toyobaru looks soo good as is, I can't really see a sedan working for it unless they completely revise the styling. Also I know they're different animals but I wouldn't be surprised if Subaru was against it since they already have a sporty sedan in the mid to high 20k range

Why would the FR-S be a midsize? The FRS itself is really small, surely a sedan based on it would be really small too, like an RX-8.

Hmm. Ok, then it would surely look better than the Cruze (admittedly a handsome car). I don't know if the 3 could beat it.

The Cruze is the weakest of the list appearance wise.
The biggest thing will be RWD, but at what cost? I was just messing with the Camaro configurator, and man, you can't get much for your dollar in that car. Even the FR-S, while a nice car, you aren't honestly getting much for the money once you look past the performance. Cloth seats, basic stereo...I don't know if the compromises made for a sports car will translate well to a sports sedan.
![]() 10/23/2013 at 16:16 |

But it would be the (hopefully) least expensive sports sedan. Just ignore the Impreza WRX. And Focus ST.

I think you're right, but I would imagine that competing as a sports sedan when there's some really nice sedans in the market would be tough.
I might be wrong, but it doesn't seem like WRX's sell THAT well, and how would this slot in price wise? Would Subaru really allow Toyota to make and sell a sport sedan using their engine that competes directly with the WRX, price wise?
I'm a weird car shopper. I have a general idea of what I want, and when I pick a target car I cross shop on price as well as type. I shopped Camaros and Mustangs before I settled on a Forte Koup. I know, performance wise they don't compare but as a daily driving car, the Koup performed plenty fine and offered WAY more for the money.
To me, it would be hard to buy a spartan FR-S sedan for the price of a loaded Cruze or Mazda 3, especially if the power is still 200 hp. If it was, say, a WRX for Mazda 3 Touring money, then I might swing towards the FR-S. In that case though, who would buy a WRX?

I hope they don't forcefully retain styling cues form the coupe. If that design doesn't work, make a new one for the sedan.
